Wedding on Bainbridge Island, Washington
kristin & dan’s fun summer wedding on bainbridge island, wa
Kristin & Dan met in Santa Cruz, CA and connected over their mutual love of the ocean. They eventually moved to Bainbridge Island where Kristin’s family lives, and her mom’s property was the perfect place to host their big wedding. With waterfront views, a swimming pool, and tennis court to have the reception on, this location was made for summer fun! The rainbow color palette & summer sunshine made for some beautiful photos to remember this incredible day.
Kristin got ready in the main house and Dan got ready at their apartment in town. They had their friends get ready with them and the vibes were high this morning. It was a gorgeous day and everyone was excited. Kristin’s mom helped her get into her dress and then we were ready to set up their first look!
Kristin & Dan loved the idea of using the Japanese garden at her mom’s house for their first look. I set Dan up in a good spot and she went up behind and surprised him. The look on his face was everything- he loves her so much! This is what I love about first looks. The build up and anticipation followed by the sweetest reactions. It’s always a sweet moment to capture.
Another great thing about having a first look is that you can get your wedding party & family photos out of the way before the ceremony. We walked down by the water and did a bunch of fun group photos as well as individuals with the couple & their best friends. After we finished up with family members, it was time for the ceremony!
The ceremony was incredible. Sun was shining, everyone smiling, beautiful bright colors and lovely words spoken during their vows. Next up, cocktail hour including oysters, signing the marriage license, and getting the party started with speeches and first dances!
The tennis court was transformed into an incredible reception venue. A big beautiful blue rug made up the dance floor. Everyone took their seats at the tables to have dinner and listen to the toasts from the bride & groom’s parents & siblings. Then they did their first dances, and opened up the dance floor for some golden hour jams! The dance floor was high energy. The Shakedown Band from Seattle really threw down and everyone was loving it. Halfway through golden hour, I took Kristin & Dan down to the beach for some newlywed photos, and then we spent the rest of the night dancing and partying with their friends. It was so much fun!
